How we research
Our editorial team researches portable power stations from manufacturer specs, official product pages and other public data. We do not do hands-on testing; we say so on every page and link our sources.
What we use
- Official specs. Capacity, output, surge, battery chemistry, cycle life, charging and weight come from each brand’s official US product pages, spec sheets and FAQs.
- Manufacturer data. Expansion options, transfer-switch support and warranty terms come from the manufacturer’s own documentation.
- Prices at time of writing. We note the date we checked prices. They change often, so always confirm on the retailer’s site.
- Sizing maths. Our sizing guidance and calculator assume about 85% inverter efficiency plus a 20% safety margin.
What we don’t do
We don’t run hands-on lab tests and we don’t publish made-up scores. When a figure isn’t published by the manufacturer, we say so rather than guess.
How we make money
We may earn a commission when you buy through our links. That never changes which products we recommend. See our affiliate disclosure.
